The following is a record of some of the correspondence I have carried out regarding this particular tech week.
I got this in an IM conversation, a week and a half ago, from David:
"we think of you. i was making jokes about how id never set up the tech table this nice for olivia, id make her do it herself the other day cause jean gotta noob and i feel bad for the freshman noob
ill give robby & co ur love."
I got this facebook post on Friday, from Meg:
"Dearest Olivia,
It is T-minus 7 days until showtime. Wish you were here."
I got this text message at 10:07p tonight (East Coast Time), from Margot:
"We miss you so much. Jean is crazy. We yearn for your leadership and your presence. Come baaaaaaaaaaaack frienddddddddddd"
I got this facebook post at 11:30p tonight (East Coast Time), from Meg:
"Our Lady of Stage Management, please grant unto us organizational ninja skills and infinite patience, that we might better withstand the trials of this week. Bestow sustenance upon us, that we might eat of the Price Chopper peasant bread during rehearsal and drink of the finest whiskey once we leave. May our optimism never falter, our nerves never fray, and our headsets never crackle with static. Let us bask in the light of our laptop screens and call upon each other for guidance and strength. Amen."
I responded:
"I have walked through the Valley of 'Hold, Please' and I have seen the Light of Curtain Call. I do not want, for my show is now Open. I have been delivered, yet I am not blind to the suffering of my sisters.Let your Stage Manager be your shepherd. Hold fast to one another and to those bearing caffeine. Know the journey ahead is dark and sleepless but that, once across the threshold, your nights will be filled shitty pop music, tequila, and joy once more."
Addendum at 3:12p the next day (Tuesday, May 1st)
I received this response from Abby:"Hail SM, full of gaff, the Show is with thee; blessed art though among your cast, and blessed is the fruit of thy Book. Holy SM, Mother of Shows, pray for the less-skilled, organized, and experienced, now and at the half hour before Go.
Amen."
I MISS IT ALL SO MUCH SOMETIMES.
